Australia witnessed two cosmic events in one day

Recently, Australia witnessed two astonishing astronomical events within two weeks. One was a rare Aquarian meteor shower, and the other was a Penumbral lunar eclipse, both occurring on the same day in May. According to scientists, this year's meteor shower was more active than usual.

The Aquarian meteor shower occurred from April 19th to May 28th and was most active on May 5th and 6th. The Penumbra lunar eclipse took place on May 6th and was visible from 3 am to 5 am. The Aquarian meteor shower is known for its speed and brightness and originates from the famous Halley's comet.

However, the brightness of the lunar eclipse could make it difficult to observe the meteor shower directly, especially when it coincided with the full moon. Professor Jonti Horner of the University of Southern Queensland said that this year's meteor shower might be a little mixed in nature. He suggested observing the meteor shower early in the morning on Friday and Saturday.
